Suggestions for a running watch?

I’m looking for a watch for running which can do all of the following:

Garmin Forerunner 305. You should be able to find it under $150 these days, and it’s easily the best value and most popular option out there.

Alternatively you might look at the 405 model (which comes both with and without heart monitor, be careful), or the latest 310XT model.

Different applications of GPS units
Many different types of GPS units are available for a myriad of uses. All but the basic functionality units are the same (its location in the world) there are many variations and ways of interpreting the data. When you think of GPS, the first thing I think is like a road atlas. To get your car from one place to another is the main purpose of the GPS. But there are more uses for a GPS that is why some have different skills and attributes that you should search when searching for the right GPS for you. Here is a short list of the types of devices to better inform you of what is available.
Automotive: The most typical. Ideal for the driver that goes to new places all the time. Distances shorter or faster can calculate routes. Traffic Updates are a useful optional and can greatly decrease the time it takes to get from point A to point B
Motorcycles: Similar to the automotive units, but are optimized for lefties, with large buttons and other user-friendly features glove
Mobile phones: A popular addition to mobile phones have the functionality of a stand alone unit and connect the data ports in your smartphone.
Notebooks and PDAs: You can connect a GPS receiver for your laptop and have the data go directly into your hard drive. You can manipulate this data and aggregate data from multiple receivers please. There is no need for a separate unit and if you have a receiver connected to your laptop.
Running: Not only record your jogging paths that some have heart rate monitors and the ability to you can compete with their former working ports.
Bicycling: Along with the hardware to connect to your handlebar cadence sensor and power in watts can be ride used as a measure of how difficult his job has been done.
Handheld: The basic unit of GPS. Basic units can be very simple, without maps and only an indicator of the game and points of interest to the locations you set. But if you want features that can be backlit color maps and be tested water, along with many other features.

Maps: Does the GPS come with all the maps of where your going to use this device? are able to add new maps, if desired?
Preset Points of Interest: Some come with preprogrammed points of interest such as shops and businesses. Do you travel a lot in unfamiliar areas? Perhaps this feature could help to find the next hotel or gas station and some even have the phone number of the establishment with the location.
Other Applications: MP3 player, viewer image, currency converter, Bluetooth. Make sure the model you choose is right for you applications.
Accessories: High Antennas, heart rate monitor, even dog collars extra.
